Did not fly at all

Went to see Lorax with two kids - 8 & 12. Was expecting a 2nd level to the movie, but did not find it. Script is good, but no surprises. Very lenghty parts. Interpretation is flat.

The Lorax

Dr. Seuss must be spinning in his grave. Shameful abuse of a really important message. The animation of some of the forest creatures was very good, however the Once-ler and most of the town folk were never part of Dr. Seuss' creation. I believe he would be offended at the distorted rendition of his story. The message "save our forests" took a back seat to the poltical propaganda cartoon that replaced Dr. Seuss' story first published in 1971, some 41 years ago. Save your money and read the book at your local library. Don't waste your time.

Good extrapolation of the Lorax's message

The movie was structured like a Broadway musical. Lively, vibrant animation, catchy songs and dancing, villans, heroes, in the visual spirit of Dr. Suess, but filled in with a storyline that is more relatable and joyful for a broader audience. Our kids enjoyed it and it brought me back to the Lorax's simple message..."UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not."

A Fitting Tribute

Absolutely loved it! Scenery was brilliant, and the take on the Once-ler was interesting. Good dialogue, and 'quotable quotes'-style lines. I strongly recommend watching the original again before seeing the new one (either rent it, or it's on YouTube in two parts; it's only 25 minutes long); it helps you appreciate what they kept, what they updated, and what they left out. The only part I didn't care for was the musical number around the middle; I think it was called "How could this possibly be bad." Everything else was awesome, witty, and poignant. Some in the packed theater actually left sniffling.

Dr. Seuss' The Lorax

Glad I did not waste money on the 3-D version on this movie!!! It's pure propaganda wrapped up in legalistic bull! Thankful my grandchildren are too young to understand that its anything but a "stupid" cartoon!
