Liked the movie - Hated previews before it (some scared the kids)

This movie is enjoyable and though it has a good environmental theme they don't bash you over the head with it. The story moved along pretty nicely and it looked great in 3D. However, prior to the movie they showed previews for others like Frankenweenie and ParaNorman. These previews scared my younger children. I also just thought these movies looked stupid. In fact, of the 5 previews for kids movies we're only looking forward to one of them (Despicable Me 2 - 2013) and the rest just seemed dumb, even to my kids.

For adults, this could have been better. I can respect that it couldn't have been easy to make a 90 minute movie out of the book but it seemed that not all that much care went into it. The Lorax came across as just plain mean (read, Louis De Palma) rather than wise. The songs were, I feel lame for saying this, lame. The songs in the Phineas and Ferb movie were far better. And why make Taylor Swift one of the voices and not make a great song for her. Like I said, not a lot of thought or energy into the content other than trying to stretch it to 90 minutes. I've seen better Real 3D as well. If you are adult who has trouble sitting through any kids' or animated film, you will definitely want to avoid this one.

This movie is definitely in the "Feel good" category. The characters are colorful and adorable, every last one. The story has great meaning without being preachy, etc. Sort of a good morals by example situation. The little bears and the fishes are so cute you can't help but just want to see them again and again. The children (toddler to older kids) in the audience laughed, commented, and obviously enjoyed the movie (as I did!) all the way through. I also thought the 3D was used effectively. The houses, cars, scenery, etc. were marvelously creative and fun to look at. I will definitely buy this one when it comes out on DVD.
