You can be forgiven for thinking Down to the Bone is Deborah Granik's first Winter's Bone, especially since it's on the same subject, drug addiction. But no, they are not the same movie. My rating says "Go" but lots of luck with that. I bought it on Amazon for seven bucks. It's not a bargain basement movie, but not a blockbuster either. I can see this hanging out in halfway houses and being received by addicts or suspected addicts for years to come, but I am neither and found it absorbing. If your addict or suspected addict is a teen you're giving them something of an eyeful, not to mention the quite explicit scenes of drug use and purchase. Maybe you should watch it.
