Don't see it
Written February 02, 2009
I was worried that this film would devolve into cliché stereotypes, despite the presence of 2 exceptional actors. It did not. Full of subtle complexity, with tidbits of insights that were unexpected, this movie exceeded my highest hopes. I can’t wait for more of my friends to see it so that I can talk about it to more people.

Meryl Streep was OUTSTANDING, this is oscar worthy acting. The story itself was gripping and very compelling. Hoffman was also good in this , but Streep stole this show. This is a must see movie

The movie was great, loved it!
Why is the start time of the movie on Fandango different thn the theater?

Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Viola Davis (for the 1 long-ish scene she appeared in), and Amy Adams (just slightly below the prior 3) put in amazing performances. The movie itself was a little slow...you could tell it was based off a play in that it was exploring a deep question/theme - like Raisin in the Sun, or Death of a Salesman - rather than relying on plot highs and lows and faster cinematography (like most movies) to draw you in. There was a lot to talk about afterwards, so I recommend seeing it with someone else to discuss...what a character meant when he/she said something, etc. The movie is basically all dialogue, so post-viewing analysis is more important than most films. I thought it was very interesting with great acting, just know that it's not a typical movie before you go.
