Despicable Me 2 3D

While it seems most movies these days have a 3D version, very few are worth the extra money. Despicable Me 2 is the exception. They know how to use the technology and integrate it into the movie and not force it in there just as a gimmick. And even if you're not impressed with the in-movie effects, the little clips at the end during the credits more than make up for it. Tricks and gimmicks don't make a movie though, and Despicable Me 2 is one of those rare sequels that is as good as the original. A definite must-see.

D2 did not disappoint. The story was predictable and it felt like there was slow a few times, but I laughed more at #2 than I did at the original. It's clear the popularity of the minions is great and they feature a lot more prominently in this movie than they did in the first. The humor is a nice balance between things the kids will love and jokes clearly aimed at the adults in the room. I saw it in 3D at a dine in AMC Theatre and the digital and theater experience is better than the average theater.

The minions made it a worthwhile movie for me. The story was a little different since Gru wasn't as evil as in the first movie. Just stay thru half the credits since there are some nice 3D surprises tossed in!
