    Suprised....

I think this was a really good well thought out movie. I love the way it ends and I wish it could have been longer.

This movie could be the new "Sleepless in Seattle".

I almost didn't go to see this movie. From the previews I thought it was just another "cute child finds dad a new mom movie". But this movie has a new format. (You have to keep awake, or you won't be able to keep track of the time travel.) Although the storylines are common, the dialogue is fresh enough, and, alright, cute enough, to keep the interest level going. (It is hard to hear a young child say some of the dialogue, but believe me, it's not language that would be out- of- the- ordinary today.) There is even a degree of mystery, so the viewer isn't sure how the movie will end. Although for the most part unknowns, the actors are overall good. Summary: I try to avoid reading reviews before going to a movie. I ultimately went to this one, because it stayed in the theaters longer than I thought it would, and I went to see why. Now I know.

    Definately Must-see

I've been aching to see a romantic movie that didn't make me want to stab the writers. This movie made me laugh and it nurtured my hopelessly romantic side. Great movie overall.

    Phenomenal

Definitely, Maybe is a nice, much-needed break from the predictable romantic comedy. For once, I was left wondering what was going to happen. This is, without a doubt, Ryan Reynolds' best performance. And who can forget the others? Abigail Breslin adds a feeling of innocence to the film and her chemistry with Reynolds is astounding. The contrast between the three leading ladies adds a uniqueness rarely found in films of this genre.

Remarkable cast. Memorable plot. Incredible film.

    Definitely a Surprise

    by 920

I am not generally a fan of the romantic comedy, especially with some of the recent "films" that have been released in this genre. I have to say though, my fiancee and I went to see this only because of the review we saw on Ebert and Roeper the night before. We both really liked this movie because it had a unique premise and was not cheesy. Abigail Breslin is cute, and Ryan Reynolds was perfect as her father. Isla Fisher, Rachel Weisz, and Elizabeth Banks all played slightly flawed but likeable women in his life. Go see it!

    Maybe, Maybe

Ryan Reynolds is flat, even clumsy in his role as a father (Will Hayes) struggling to respond to an inquisitive daughter Maya played by Abigail Breslin. Breslin has reverted to some of the same mannerisms she utilized in Little Miss Sunshine so much of her sparkle is evaporating. The plot is contrived: imposing an artificial mystery on Dad?s courtship of Maya?s mother and other loves. Maya was hoping to stimulate memory of first flush of love and commitment in her father through all this reminiscing and stop the impending divorce. The three female characters Emily (Elizabeth Banks), Summer (Rachel Weisz), and April (Isla Fisher) carry the script, complimented by the delightful character, the pompous cad Hampton Roth (Kevin Kline). The seemingly casual attitude towards sexual interludes and discussing the details with a young daughter is disturbing. There are bright moments and with a different lead male, this film could have climbed further into the emotional atmosphere.

    Worth Seeing

I had high expectations going into this movie because I loved Love Actually and enjoyed Notting Hill. And I was not disappointed by Definintely, Maybe. Cute and interesting story that kept your attention until the end. Actors that were easy on the eyes and did a great job. Great character development, except maybe for Emily. It would have been nice to see more of her personality and background.

The best thing about this movie is that it isn't a cookie cutter romantic comedy. You know the ones where you know before you sitting down in the theater what is going to happen. This was like boy meets girls, the relationships aren't perfect or easy, the ending isn't as obvious, but it is happy. And yes he does end up with one of the women in the end. Kind of has the message that everything happens for a reason. The audience gets to join his daughter in trying to figure out the ending.

Anyway I loved it! I will probably buy it

Great story with real life lessons

They could have left out some of the crude humor at the begining but it was mainly just at the begining and the rest of the movie was fairly clean. It did deal with some real life messes that we get ouselves into but showed some honesty and character in the some of the main people involved. Had some wonderfull tear jerking moments and a happy ending. If you love to love go see this movie!

Good hearted movie, but TOO LONG

This movie I felt was a tad long... and I could of waited for DVD, popcorn and my SOFA!

It was cute, and sweet, and somewhat true to life, but a little long.

They should of shortened it a bit... and made some scenes perhaps a little more upbeat.

    Cute movie!

My friend and I watched this on President's Day so it was packed with teenage girls and their moms. It was great! I thought the adds of the 1992 stuff was a perfect touch.

    Definately, Maybe

Did not think this would be a movie that I would enjoy as much as I did, but I like Reynolds acting as well as Isla Fisher's quirkyness. Story-line was just right, acting was good as well. Definately a great Date Movie.

    Definitely, maybe

I enjoyed the movie and thought the interplay between the actors was good and, in parts, funny. The ending was a surprise, but a nice one. It is entertaining and I recommend seeing it.

Definitely, maybe... I liked it, or did I?

I think the idea of this movie was interesting.. Ryan Reynolds telling his love story, in flashbacks, to his daughter like a "romantic mystery". But I think that this storyline structure was also part of the problem. It was hard to enjoy Ryan's character's romantic encounters because you didn't know if the girl he was with was the one "to root for". As you watched the flashback with a particular one of the 3 girls, it was hard to enjoy the relationship because you didn't know where it would ultimately lead. I know that was the point of the plot, but I think that it was a strange frustration in watching the movie. The movie felt long, and I think more editing would have helped the pace. Luckily, the movie was anchored by the likability of Ryan Reynolds and the actresses who played the 3 women from his past. Casting really saved this movie. Fun to see Kevin Kline in an interesting role, too. This movie might be more enjoyable the second time around.
