    Defiance

The movie was really good. I appreciate the movies exceptional plot of determination and the right to live on. The movie kept me on the edge of my seat and i was purely impressed. Daniel Craig was great and really brought the movie together.

World War Two, raw and in your face

    by fiercevanity23

Defiance proved to be one of the most realistic WW2 movies I have ever seen. Based on a true story, the movie takes a totally different stand point than the usual horrific real-life footage and the natzi's misguided motivation. It shows you what it meant to be a jew caught in the throws of a living nightmare. Based around survival in a secluded man made camp in the deep forest, Defiance follows the victims of the war as they struggle just to live from day to day. I would definately recomend this to anyone who enjoys a good historical movie.

    To the treees!

    by gpwasr10

I thought I would go into this movie and come out loving it. I am an avid WWII buff, a big time Daniel Craig fan (best Bond since Connery), and the story of rising up against tyranny almost always makes for sound story telling.

But as I sat through this film, which was well written, acted, and shot, I could not shake the feeling that I was watching a rendition of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves... but with Jews as the merry men, and the Nazis as the Sherif of Nottingham?s band of thugs. I kept waiting for one of the protagonists (with poor dental hygiene) to yell out ?To the trees!? as the Nazi?s made their final push into the forest.

This story just seemed to follow the general layout of Costner?s 90's Hood movie that it felt like some strange dramatic, and I know it fails to judge the movie on it?s own merits.

But if you have never seen Prince of Thieves you will probably enjoy it more then I as you will not be making the same idiotic comparison.
