    December Boys - Golden

    by Rusty1

Golden days for young and old is what we witness in this gentle but penetrating drama.

You walk out feeling like you have been on holiday and made 4 new friends. Amazing touch with the story and if you can deal with those funny Australian accents then no problem. (They dont really sound like they do on THE SIMPSONS)

Dan from HARRY POTTER is really good and a versatile actor.

    Very HEart Warming Movie

Great movie. Its been a while since we have seen such innocence and simple yet sophisticated characters. It was a refreshing change from all the death and bloody movies that they make these days. Daniel Radcliff is as usually very good. He is a bit awkward in some places, it seems that as he growing up from the Harry Potter days, he is still getting used to his ?new skin?. The other boys are amazing and I loved the story. It is definitely a movie that will remain with me for a long time to come.

Too good to be hidden in Non-mainstream release

Finding this movie at "a theater near you" was not an easy feast. Alas I had to resort to fly from Raleigh NC to Atlanta GA (thank God for working for an airline) and meeting up with my best Bud to see it. We were both glad we went. It is a nice coming of age story, depicting the friendship of four boys, that really goes so much deeper than friendship. You rarely see this theme played out as a story between "boys only" without the usual buddy/buddy references or without the boys being jocks. Furthermore this movie shows that boys can be emotional and sensitive, without having the fear of being labllled as homosexual as is so commonplace these days.

The movie is set in the 1960s, and I loved to see that the boys' thought of rebelling was sneaking a smoke and a beer. Yet nobody then freaked out about it. And it doesn't mean they all turned out addicts!

Nice sencery shots in the beautiful Australia!
