British novelist Enid Blyton's Five Go Adventuring Again, one of a series of children's whodunits featuring four tenacious British kids and a German shepherd, was translated into this rather silly Danish film. The Blyton books were always popular in Denmark, but the idea of transporting the oh, so veddy British public school kids to the Danish countryside proved uneasy at best. Although Blyton's original work was set during the war and dealt with fifth columnists, this screen version was updated to contemporary Denmark. During a vacation, the four kids and their canine friend get involved in a case of stolen chemical formulas. There is a master spy (played, broadly, by The Olsen Gang's Ove Sprogøe) and the inevitable underground passages. (There was always an underground passageway or cave in Miss Blyton's "Fabulous Five" stories.) Strangely, although the kids were supposed to be Danish, they retained their original British names! A sequel, The Fem i Fedtefadet, was released the following year. ~ Hans J. Wollstein, Rovi
