The husband-and-wife acting team of John Bowers and Marguerite De La Motte heads the cast of Daughters Who Pay. Marguerite plays a city gal who poses as an exotic Russian to keep her job as a cabaret dancer. Bowers plays her wastrelly boyfriend, who happens to be her brother's boss. When brother dear embezzles several thousand dollars, Marguerite assumes her Russian identity to get him out of the mess. As a means of filling up the last reel, our heroine also rounds up a gang of Bolshevik anarchists. Incidentally, it was John Bowers' real-life suicide by drowning that inspired the climax in A Star is Born. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
