    Excellent Popcorn Movie

    Dark Skies has everything...

Good tight storyline, a couple of good jumps, good acting, I don't feel the movie ever dragged at any point, and the great thing is the movie did not lean on scares or jumps to MAKE the movie, it actually told a story. Some will like this and some will not, some will go in wanting an edge of your seat constant scare me ride the whole time, that won't happen, even though there are some tense moments. What was even better, the ending surprised me a bit. I like that. This will not win any awards but it is really fun and enjoyable entertainment. If you go in with the attitude of just wanting to see a great science fiction movie about a family having "Alien" type problem, you will be happy.

It was much better than allot of the crap that has been out there lately I will for certain give it that.

    Cheers!

    Amazing

This was truly an original take on the alien abduction genre. I felt like I was watching a puzzle come together from beginning to end, if you'r into horror and science fiction, this is a must see!

    It was ok

    by

Nothing great but I am older and it takes a lot to impress me. The teens a couple of seats downs seemed to like it. The ending kind of sucked. Realized it was pg13 so should have stayed away.

    Terrifying...NO. Entertaining...YES!

This is a good story, told believably, and as a film I found it quite suspenseful and most entertaining. Those paranormal fans who follow this film's producers seem to have been expecting something in keeping with their former demonically themed screenplays (the ?play? part being a bit of a stretch, I know). The fact they detoured from that comfort zone demonstrates the versatility they hope to present to their already established, yet definitely NOT built-in, audience. If you're looking for a suspenseful film experience outside the mainstream and without religious or spiritual implications, sans ghoulishness and deviant gore, this is just the movie for you. See it. You won't be disappointed. Use common sense though. Leave the kids at home..

    Wait for Redbox

Horror flick about family being terrorized by aliens has individual scenes that are creepy but they never add up to anything. Dark Skies never really builds up any dramatic momentum and often seems to be borrowing liberally from other films like Sinister and the Paranormal Activity flicks. There are also ridiculous lapses in logic--if the aliens can get in and out of the house without opening any doors or windows or completely vanish from a bedroom as soon as a light switch is turned on then what's the point of boarding up the windows? If you think the aliens want one of your children why would you send them away to a separate room by themselves when the aliens come? If you think aliens implanted a probe behind your ear why not get a surgeon to try and remove it rather than do it yourself? If a child wakes up with geometric shapes branded to his skin why wouldn't he tell his parents? Then there's the ending which elicited groans and loud comments from members of the audience.

Nice slow build-up to a wild finish

If you go in expecting something totally new or thought provoking, you may be disappointed. If you go in expecting a creepy study of a family dealing with some very weird stuff, you will be more likely to enjoy a nice popcorn movie with a few startles, some atmosphere and a decent payoff at the end.

    Worth seeing

I went to see Dark Skies expecting a paranormal horror story, not expecting an alien encouinter movie, but it was very well received by me and my 13 year old son. It was worth the trip.

    Genuinely scary!

I had rather low expectations of this movie but it was surprisingly good! I can't say it was highly original or even unpredictable, but the performances were excellent and the fear generated in the audience was created using real suspense rather than through the use of special effects. In fact, a big part of what made this film so successful is the feeling of horror it generated without benefit of special effects. There were hardly any. Yet I found it much scarier than many horror films that were long on effects but short on chills.

    Good

    by

This was a pretty decent movie. Definitely original when speaking on current paranormal movies. Some parts had me holding onto my seat. It would've been better however if they clipped some things out of their previews. Because they showed certain climax points of the movie, I knew what to expect. If they hadn't shown in previews movie would have been more surprising and disturbing at climax points.

    Dark Skies

    by WILDSEA

Abduction film which is not interesting until 15 minutes before the end. Although this is a movie for adults, the fact that there are several kids in the movie makes it boring.

    Well played

    by Ajlina

I enjoyed this movie. I liked the realistic family. I liked that it wasn't over the top and I didn't find it predictable at all. Well acted. It has a few jump in your seat parts, but they are brief and the weak hearted can manage them just fine in my opinion. A realistic alien movie ;)

    Sleep tight

No really, sleep tight. Rented it On Demand, fell asleep. Tried to watch it next morning, added a few more hours of sleep. Needless to say, I'm well rested to watch an actual good movie.

    Good Times

    by

Went to the late show with my wife, her friend and 3 young teens and had a great time. Enjoyed watching them cover their eyers and scream occasionally... this movie is scary but not "evil" scary so very appropriate for young teens.
