A former lawyer, Irish-born D'Arcy Corrigan came to films with a varied background that included a stint as private secretary for a member of Parliament and as a stock company leading man. In Hollywood from 1925, Corrigan played everything from barristers to opium addicts to cockneys to undertakers. Rarely onscreen for more than a minute or two, he usually made every second count. He is especially memorable as the morgue keeper in Bela Lugosi's Murders in the Rue Morgue (1932), the blind man in John Ford's The Informer, and as the Spirit of Christmas Future in A Christmas Carol (1938). ~ Hans J.
