Great story. Matthew and Jared should both win the Oscar. Thought Jennifer Garner was miscast and the movie could have been cut by 20 minutes but very worth seeing!!

One has to love Matthew McConaughey for taking on a role where his beautiful body is basically turned to dust. The acting in this movie from everyone is superb and award worthy. Having a brother die from aids I related to this movie, however, did not know all of this information. It was a brave undertaking all the way around and it was done with class and guts.
While I would not tell anyone to see it unless they were deep enough to understand it ,as the sadness is at a depth that most people don't need. It was done so very, very well and deserves awards for walking the plank as the sharks are feeding....
My hat is off to all who are part of this movie... Thank You !!!

good acting ,very good idea for a movie ..I am sure many were unaware of the alternate drug methods and clinics that existed. However the second half dragged a bit...tighter editing would have been beneficial

"Dallas Buyers Club" is quite the Texan yarn, complete with rodeo and cowboys, but all is not well. I will skip the details and just say the acting is superb, especially Jared Leto, who will break your heart with his portrayal of an achingly beautiful transgendered beautiful human being. Watching him perform in this movie alone is worth the price of admission. It has Oscar written all over it. Matthew McConaughey's performance is also Oscar worthy, and he is spot on with his portrayal of his character.
Solid script, good period details. The only knock I have on this film is I think it could have been a little shorter. Otherwise, it is a stark reminder of what the beginning of the AIDS epidemic was like for so many of its victims. A sad story well told.

I'll admit, I've never been a huge fan of Matthew McConaughey. I have found his choices of roles suspect and his performances too similar and predictable. But make no mistake about it, McConaughey drives 'Dallas Buyers Club' from beginning to end and turns in without question the finest performance of his career.
Most of the Oscar buzz has surrounded Jared Leto, who was spectacular as well but I found Matt McConaughey's performance utterly mesmerizing. Its as if the role of Ron Woodruff was created especially for him. Jared Leto's portrayal of Rayon was equally perfect and Oscar worthy.
'DBC' builds an incredible momentum that does stumble only slightly toward the end, but the film never loses its heart and undeniable ability to connect with anyone using real and often unlikable characters. The film could have diverted in cliche directions several times but opted for real, gritty and painful.
'DBC' is worth every emotional minute.
