Not For The "Saw" or "Silent Hill" Set.
Not made for the "Saw" or "Silent Hill" set, this film?s gruesome in parts but stops short of ghoulishness. The movie reminded me of those "old" days in horror, when a story and a twist were actually important parts of the movie. Today it seems horror film makers compete with one another to see who can be more macabre, ghastly or morbid, forgetting all about telling a story. From their offerings in recent past, I'd say they've just about reached the limits of human sensibility where realism is concerned. Anyway, despite the large number of viewers who rated this movie as less than OK, I thought it did what it was intended to do and that was to scare the audience. For the overly-stimulated set it was likely cheesy, since they've seen so much gruesomeness in their games alone as to have become desensitized to basic horror films. Go ahead and see this if you're looking for a scary hand-holder that won't make you or your date puke. It?s not disappointing, just less nauseating than most.
