My wife and I loved it

I really liked the movie "Dan In Real Life" as it's sort of a quirky funny love story. This movie was somewhat similar, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Acting was great...story line was unique and well done. Enjoyable twist that came out of no where. And, it had a sweet soundtrack as well. For me it was a must go Date Movie.

Exactly what I expected

The trailers represent the movie fairly well. If you like the trailer and want to see another 1.5 hrs then you should not be disappointed. Acting: I am not a big fan of either Ryan Gosling or Julianne Moore, and they did nothing here to win me over either. Steve Carrell and Emma Stone are both fun to watch; I would not say this is the best movie for either of them, though. I also think they wasted money on Kevin Bacon and Marisa Tomei - neither one of them was really used effectively here. Script: I laughed quite a bit more than I expected to. I really enjoyed the story, most of the time. Directing: The movie felt very real, plausible, and consistent throughout. There were two scenes however that were totally out of place. Both were near the end. I think the film loses steam right around what I guess you would call the climax. We don't get to the movies very often since our daughter was born. If not for our anniversary I think we would have waited for the DVD.

If you're looking for the romantic comedy where Katherine Heigl meets a guy, hates him, and blah blah blah they live happily ever after then this is not the movie for you. The movie starts with "I want a divorce" and goes from there. I would call it more of a dramedy than a romantic comedy. And I think since the focus is on a 40-something couple that has been married for quite a while, that's probably the audience that will enjoy it the most. There are some young hotties in it for the 20's crowd, but most of the jokes seem to focus around divorce and getting back into the game. Also I'm pretty sure that Ryan Gosling's house in the movie was the Stahl house, which I always enjoy seeing. I loved this movie.

Fabulous acting, great storyline. Twist I didnt see coming. Steve Carell is fabulous, even has some serious scenes that were very well done. Emma Stone is awesome, she is such a great actress, that girl will be around for years to come!
