An Inspiring and Heartwrenchingly Tragic Film.

This movie is probably not what you'll be expecting. It touches on some very dark subjects and is overflowing with emotion. I brought some skeptical guy friends along with me and one was crying right along with me. All in all though, this movie has several elements to it and is lined with comedy, tragedy, and undeniably stellar performances from the entire cast. Instantly deemed one of the best films I've ever seen. Also, let it be known that it's not necessary to be a Country music fan to appreciate this film. I will tell everyone about this movie and the incredible power behind it.

Great entertainment

I really enjoyed this movie. And, that is someone who has seen True Grit (A), The King's Speech (A+++), and this movie in the last couple of months. Paltrow and Hedlund stole the show for me. But, the other actors were great. Neat songs, different story line, and a good pace (too slow, though, for my husband). I'll buy the DVD and look to see if Hedlund has any CDs. Paltrow--keep singing!

I say go for the enjoyment of watching Hedlund and Paltrow only....

...but honestly,as a film to spend your money on,this just doesn't cut it. I felt like I kept waiting for the movie to really start. Did not feel invested, until after 3 quarters into the movie. To me,Paltrow is enjoyable to watch,so that made it worth it. Her acting wasn't impressing me until the end of the movie...then I kind of 'got' why her perf was what it was. LOVED her Dallas concert scene and hospital scene. McGraw was a huge disappointment. I felt like his mind was elsewhere. Meister...total cookie cutter...who is she? Not impressed a bit. BIG TREAT was Hedlund..didn't know him,but I do now..he will do great in country music or acting. As I said, the movie is more of a meh....,but I will spend money again to see Hedlund and Paltrow.
