Fine performances by Jane Fonda, Jon Voigt and Bruce Dern at the beginning of their careers. A heartbreaking story that truly depicts the consequences of the brutal and bitter side of the Vietnam War (and I expect the wars since then) when it was difficult to distinguish the bad guy from the good and no clear winner or loser at the end of the day except those whose lives were directly impacted by the senselessness that war ultimately is. A beautiful performance by Jon Voight...eloquently portraying the pain and frustration of that time and of someone permenently disabled by an injury. No happy endings here but insights into the soul of those damaged by war even if they never saw combat.
