Connection Atlas: “Miniscule Film Spoilers”

By joyfulwoman2078

“Cloud Atlas” was a unique film that creatively weaved concepts of reincarnation into a message of how we are connected to one another. I am thankful for all of the blessings that I have in my life (including my family members and friends). However, watching this movie reminded me why I would prefer for my current lifetime to be my last lifetime on earth (if reincarnation actually exists). Yes, I know that “Cloud Atlas” is only a great entertainment movie. It is just that some of the future scenarios that were depicted were quite different from my vision of a future Utopian society. Tom Hanks and Halle Berry cleverly play the powerful roles of spirits who become drawn together in both 1970’s California and in some post Apocalypse world of the future. There were more actors and actresses that did a great job with the interwoven past and future life stories crafted together. “Cloud Atlas” is a film for those who enjoy movies with spiritual themes.

Another anti-business message

As is typical for hollywood, there is another anti-business message in this one. Another assumption that business people are unethical and will kill in order to get their way. Absolutely a stupid message.

I was so excited to see this movie, because the maker of the matrix and the terrific cast. The movie was very confusing, the spend too much time in the simple things and none time to explain the real deal. The idea is carry on with the emotion with the special effects and back in forth with the past and the future. Entertainment not recommended .

Cloud Atlas isn't for everybody

Cloud Atlas tells six seperate seemingly unrelated stories and then tries to tie them all together at the end as one universal story of reincarnation and karma. I personally think Cloud Atlas is a mess because there is really no cohesive plot or character development to speak of. I can deal without one or the other, but not both. Cloud Atlas jumps from timeline to timeline too quickly without letting the viewers get a feel for the characters or the storyline. After about 30 minutes in, I thought that it was really going to hard sitting through this for nearly three hours. There were some moments in this film that I thought were cringe worthy, like in the future timeline where Tom Hanks & Hallie Berry speak gibberish throughout their scenes. So there you have it. While I think the idea of Cloud Atlas is intriguing, the actual movie is not. I definitely don't recommend Cloud Atlas.
