just a pretentious piece of crap. 1 you cant understand a word the actors are speaking 2.even if you could it makes no sense 3There are 100's if not 1,000's of great S-F novels that would make great movies, but Holl wood pays rotten people who think they are great but they are (they Think) really clever to write this crap.

Kinda slow...don't go if you're tired.

Unique story line, good acting, love how they intertwine, but too slow in parts. I almost wish it didn't intertwine so we could see all of one story then another. Stay for the credits...very cool reveal of who played what characters that will surprise you. :)

Cloud Atlas: Avoid it like Hurricane Sandy!!!!

Cloud Atlas: Talk about "Bait and Switch"! While those behind production of this movie and their adoring critics claim it's a new and daring look at life (past, present and future) with probing questions about karma and reincarnation, don't believe it for a second!!! The only question I (and most of those leaving the theater near me) wanted to know the answer to was: 'How can I ever recover those three hours out of my life?' Virtually the entire "plot" (and using that term loosely) was nothing more than rehashed, cut and paste snippets from successful films including: Blade Runner, Star Wars, Soylent Green (and they had the gall to mention it in one of the scenes!), One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Cocoon, Amazing Grace, Silkwood, The China Syndrome, Brokeback Mountain, with a bit of Braveheart thrown in the mix. To say this movie was bad, would be a complete understatement. Why can't mainstream Hollywood treat their audience with the intelligence of a drama like, "Breaking Bad?"

Book Schmook, Go See This

I haven't read the book bkz friends say it's difficult to follow and the rewards are doubtful. Why see the movie then? Wasn't planning on it until a friend--who has read the book--suggested we go. Monday night, nothing else going on so yeah i went. Those expensive movie hot dogs are tasty. Dude, I was blown a-way. The movie is like a weird trip, with all these stories starting and stopping and continuing and bumping into each other on the way to the conclusion and a Message. I liked the Message but won't tell you what it is bkz that would be distilling the liquor down to like not even a taste. So, am damn glad I went out on a Monday night and saw this flick I had no interest in. And yeah the hot dog was good.

GIVES THE AUDIENCE AN IMAGINATIVE TALE , WORTH THE PRICE OF ADMISSION.

What a remarkable surprise, entering with massive trepidation, realizing after fifteen minutes that "I really liked it"... "Cloud Atlas", (referring to a symphony composed as the film progresses ) is based upon the novel by David Mitchell, directed by Andy and Lana Wachowski ("The Matrix"); it is elegant, beautiful, lyrical, metaphorical, comical, confusing and confounding; a feast for the imagination; my best advice is to let "Cloud Atlas" imprison your mind's eye, take reign and gallop with one of the most ambitious, compelling stories in recent film. Confusion eventually morphs into understanding as we watch a myriad of talented actors assume various personages, gender changes, good/evil depictions through three disparate eras... THREE & 1/2 STARS!!! ***For full review please visit peneflix(dot)com!!!
