Complete waste of 3 hours

Absolutely disconnected movie supposedly trying to connect people through ages and different lives. It failed, horribly. I spent the entire movie trying to understand what was going on and find some sort of plot, any kind of plot. About two hours in I was completely flabbergasted and irritated. I figured since I put so much time into it I might as well find out how they tie it all together only to find out they don't and I had just wasted three hours of my life. Save yourself! Run away from this movie!

Beautiful Storytelling

It takes a little while to get into each of the revolving story lines due to the constant changing between each, but once you get enough of each story to get involved, it's like watching several movies at one time that have subtle overlaps with each other. Each mini-movie is very different, so whether you're a fan of crime dramas, epic buddy movies, love stories, or comedies there is something here for everyone and even more if you love a great story no matter how it's told. It was great seeing all the actors play so many different parts. One downside is that it seemed that we didn't get to see all of the stories..like some of the details were cut...so a bit of the final message impact was missing - but an epic thought provoking movie none the less, and beautifully weaved together.

One Viewing Is Not Enough

There are so many threads to this movie a person might have to see it several times just to follow each one. As an example, what is the meaning of the shooting-star birthmarks and why does just one person in each segment have one?

No point in wasting your time...

This movie was a bunch of jumbled stories that tried to make some sort of statement about fate and life but it fell way short of the mark - ultimately, it made you feel that there might be no point in living at all - don't waste your time or money.

A thought provoking epic

The "Cloud Atlas" was one of the most epic movies I have seen in quite some time. The stories in the sextet were all very interesting and the various characters well developed and showed the actors depth playing numerous characters in each story. Tom Hanks, as usual, was excellent, as was Halle Berry. An extremely well crafted, if complicated tale of how love survives all conflict and tradgedy. I give it an A+. I see a lot of movies and I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 hours of it.
