    Ambitious

    I had no idea what I was walking into the first time I went to see Cloud Atlas in theaters. I became aware of the movie one day when I went to check what the Wachowski brothers were up to, and I saw this project, 'Cloud Atlas'.

    Like I said before, I had no idea what I was getting myself into the first time I saw it. I am writing this review the day after my second viewing.

    What is there to say? The scope of the film spans centuries, focusing on the lives of individuals in certain time periods that are some how connected without their knowing, where their actions effects the lives of those in the future without them even trying or knowing.

    You can say that it is a story of soul mates finding each other again and again throughout time, either glimpsing each other for moments, or spending their lives together. It's an amazing, gripping film of hope, sadness, and above all, humanity. I truly love this film, and plan on purchasing it when it is released.

    Very interesting story line !

    Excellente movie! Really enjoyed it very much. Tom Hanks is just amazing in every role he acts in this movie as well as Halle berry.Movie was having lot of great moment in all directions - deep thoughts ,funny moments, love ,action,peoples personalities etc etc ... We were very satisfied ,some interesting movie to think about for while again.

    Not as profound as its makers imagine

    "We're all goanna die; but it doesn't matter cuz life will go on." That is the basic theme, along with something about how we are all linked together. One character says to another: "What you are doing is just a drop in the ocean." The character replies: "What is an ocean, but many small drops." Is it deep? You decide - lots of wierd anglos made up to look Asian, some sci-fi, and Halle Berry is always hot :-)

    In your face connectedness

    The major theme of this movie is that we're all connected. It's a theme that is shoved in your face every chance the filmmakers get. I admit that I never finished the book because it was BORING. The movie was better than the book.

    Another anti-business message

    As is typical for hollywood, there is another anti-business message in this one. Another assumption that business people are unethical and will kill in order to get their way. Absolutely a stupid message.

    Cloud Atlas

    I went in expecting a sumptuous sight for the eyes and something thought provoking and was not disappointed. Great performances all around by a great cast each doing multiple roles. Some (SPOILER ALERT) like Hugo Weaving were precious. I have not read the book on which the movie was based, but I have already decided to look into it as well as the music score. The multiplex cinema we went to had the film in a small theatre and it was packed. I'm glad I used Fandango to purchase tickets in advance.

    Tremendous

    This story was told very well. The actors did a wonderful job covering multiple characters. The downfall was in some of the makeup. It looked amateur sometimes.

    Cloud Atlas is too confusing and poorly executed

    This film had a lot going for it. There were a bunch of great actors in this, it looked like it would have a great spectacle, would be an interesting movie to see, and it got positive reviews from both the critics and the users. The thing that really plummeted was the confusing story and it was a half hour too long. The confusing thing was the same characters went back in time, present, and future

    Best Movie I've Seen In Quite A While!

    This movie does not disappoint. It is epic. It's a beautiful piece of artistic storytelling. This is a MUST SEE FILM!!

    Go see it!

    Just saw this today and it is now in my top 20. Very well done story and surprisingly very true to the book. Will be buying this when it comes out on Blu-Ray.

    What a dissapointment

    With such a cast listing and trailers of varied, beautiful locales through time periods of the ages, I wanted to see this on the big screen. What a dissapointment! Any congnizant connections between the storylines were disjointed and sporadic. I should have left the last hour, but by that point had a mental game of Where's Waldo looking for the few actor's hidden under the make up. Only one scene did I enjoy and laugh out loud. I also hung in until the end in hopes of the movie redeeming itself to make it worth my hard-earned movie ticket price and almost three hours time spent at the theater. I feel for the actors and the many hours in the makeup chair. My only compensation was at credit time testing my Where's Waldo score against each actor's assigned characters. The set designers did a great job on each time period. Another underscoring how bad the storyline was that I paid more attention to book titles on background shelves.

    Breathtaking

    I hate to admit, but I had never heard of the book or this movie (I don't watch much TV), but saw a preview while seeing another movie and thought it looked intresting. The cast alone was enough to draw me in for a look!
    Can I just say how much I LOVE this movie! Amazingly breathtaking! The story is just right in my opinion. It has a good mix of humor, romance, conflict, and action! The cinematics were beautiful and the story, while told interweavingly, are poignant and easy to follow if you have any measure of intelligence.
    Yes this movie has lots of hidden detail, but for me, that is a sign of a good movie. One you actually want to see over and over to catch all those little hidden gems! I have seen it twice all ready and would readily go see it again!
    This is a movie for people who think deep and search for equality in life. If you are a Scary Movie type this is NOT the movie for you! If you enjoyed movies like AI, The Matrix, and the like, you are sure to love this

    Loved it - time flew!

    I wanted to be there ... and I felt like I was!

    Didn't realize it was 3 hours long til I arrived to this website to add my positive rating

    The book didn't get such good reviews, but this movie is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The casting, acting, cinematography, music, ... are superb!

    If the idea of reincarnation finds you fearful, and believe me when I say I am 100% Christian, look beyond your fear and just understand how we are all connected. Think why we were put on this earth, why we were born into the families we were, how our spirit is different than our body/personality/values.

    Also in this movie is a "Stick it to da' man!" which is always good fodder.

    I say GO GO GO! Can't wait for the DVD!!!!
