Cloud Atlas tells six seperate seemingly unrelated stories and then tries to tie them all together at the end as one universal story of reincarnation and karma. I personally think Cloud Atlas is a mess because there is really no cohesive plot or character development to speak of. I can deal without one or the other, but not both.
Cloud Atlas jumps from timeline to timeline too quickly without letting the viewers get a feel for the characters or the storyline. After about 30 minutes in, I thought that it was really going to hard sitting through this for nearly three hours. There were some moments in this film that I thought were cringe worthy, like in the future timeline where Tom Hanks & Hallie Berry speak gibberish throughout their scenes.
So there you have it. While I think the idea of Cloud Atlas is intriguing, the actual movie is not. I definitely don't recommend Cloud Atlas.

Unless you come high on the drug the director and writer, of this movie, were than you will think its awesome, come sober and you will be saying the same thing I am. Don't go!!! HUGE WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME!!!!!
I hate movies that aren't movies, but more like YouTube short chips and I hate movies that can't stay in one scene or one year for that matter!

Absolutely incredible film, top notch production value on an independent film. The story is truly a deep and inspiring tale, that reminds us of out impact we make.
While confusing during the first half of the film, things begin to pull together in the second half. I found myself glued to the TV as learned more about the relationships and connections that are made.
Very well done, highly recommend

Going to Cloud Atlas is like waking in a thick forest; you can see the trees - but you cannot begin to understand the forest as a whole until after you leave it; only then can you see the depth and shape of it.
The primary concepts & details are very subtly shown. If you see this movie, you should be prepared to see it 2-3 times; only then will you know what you're seeing, and what to watch for. That's a lot to expect of movie-viewers.
I didn't read the book, but to me this is a story about life's continuum, reincarnation & the nature of the soul: a murderous thief evolves into a reluctant hero; a courageous women remains courageous in each reincarnation.. etc. I think I saw the gem-buttons from a waste coat end on a necklace hundreds of years later. (?) The message I got; we are all connected, and if you live your life 'to make a difference,' that difference can ripple into the future, far beyond your life.
GO - but ONLY if you can put the time into thinking about it

Unique story line, good acting, love how they intertwine, but too slow in parts. I almost wish it didn't intertwine so we could see all of one story then another. Stay for the credits...very cool reveal of who played what characters that will surprise you. :)
