Sad that the critic reviews seem to miss the mark. Sure, there are plenty of people I know who wouldn't "get it". Gratefully, I am not one of those people. I was taken to this movie by friends who were curious. I am so thankful to them that I didn't completely listen to the critical reviews. I found myself uttering "amazing, amazing" so often throughout. Love story, action film, sci-fi flick, metaphysical rumination, history and comedy were all touched upon with great care. I am someone who is fascinated by Lana W's journey and can see bits of her new found freedom in so many scenes. This movie will stay with me for years.

just a pretentious piece of crap. 1 you cant understand a word the actors are speaking 2.even if you could it makes no sense 3There are 100's if not 1,000's of great S-F novels that would make great movies, but Holl wood pays rotten people who think they are great but they are (they Think) really clever to write this crap.

Book Schmook, Go See This

I haven't read the book bkz friends say it's difficult to follow and the rewards are doubtful. Why see the movie then? Wasn't planning on it until a friend--who has read the book--suggested we go. Monday night, nothing else going on so yeah i went. Those expensive movie hot dogs are tasty. Dude, I was blown a-way. The movie is like a weird trip, with all these stories starting and stopping and continuing and bumping into each other on the way to the conclusion and a Message. I liked the Message but won't tell you what it is bkz that would be distilling the liquor down to like not even a taste. So, am damn glad I went out on a Monday night and saw this flick I had no interest in. And yeah the hot dog was good.

A thought provoking epic

The "Cloud Atlas" was one of the most epic movies I have seen in quite some time. The stories in the sextet were all very interesting and the various characters well developed and showed the actors depth playing numerous characters in each story. Tom Hanks, as usual, was excellent, as was Halle Berry. An extremely well crafted, if complicated tale of how love survives all conflict and tradgedy. I give it an A+. I see a lot of movies and I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 hours of it.

3 hours of kicking a dead horse

I went into this movie really wanting to like what I was about to watch. It started off scatterbrained, mostly just to introduce the characters, but after the initial pile on of characters and timeline stories, nothing really changed. Every time some "profound" point came across, it was so obvious, and really just common sense, that it didn't feel like any sort of commendation was in order. Big corporations can be evil, slavery is bad, greed kills, yadda yadda. You might as well just watch a movie explaining that lighting yourself on fire is a bad idea, because duh, it is. My drive home was spent trying to figure out if i disliked Prometheus or Cloud Atlas more.. yay.
