There are parts (and moments) in this movie that are thrilling. For example, there's a futuristic world of barely human servants that's extraordinary. I really liked some of the action fight sequences, which are arguably as innovative as those in The Matrix when you first see it. And the story surrounding the rebels is really great. It's also worth mentioning that the actors do a terrific job and have great parts to play. Unfortunately, there are also a couple of disjointed stories and poorly thought out characters that are someone agonizing to watch. All of the different stories in various time periods seem oddly connected, but they do come together rather nicely. Still, you will experience some agony while waiting for the connections to be made and some of the scenes and characters detract from the overall experience of watching this film.

Story was creative yet it did take an extended amount of time to get to any cohesion among the various sub-stories. Jim Broadbent and Doona Bae gave the most compelling performances in each of the timelines and I was a bit disappointed in the other performances.
The sound mixing was terrible with a dramatic racheting up of the volume in the future timeline making the movie experience painful. I can understand the increase for previews but ramping up the sound within an actual movie is something I find very annoying. That kind of knocked out some of the computer generated graphics highlights.

I normally really like movies such as this (supernatural element, reincarnation, time travel, etc.) and also movies that really make you think with complicated plots. But I have to say this movie is insanely complicated and hard to follow.
Every 4-5 minutes they switch you from one story line in one time period to a completely different story and time period, with seemingly no correlation between stories. Halle Berry, Tom Hanks and 5-6 other actors all appear in 6-7 different story lines each, playing 6-7 different characters each in 6-7 different time periods. It's just too splintered and confusing of a movie. Would of been better to either: 1) stay in chronological order of stories showing how decisions people made in 1 life effected their next life: 2) just make movie to follow 3 of the story lines. Having to follow 6-7 story lines, changing every 4-5 minutes is not an enjoyable movie experience. Tom Hanks also not casted well, would of been better with different actor.

This movie is one of the most confusing movie that I've ever watched. It was a waste of time & money. I do not recommend it.

Hey everyone, i know this movie can be a bit confusing for most people. There are 6 stories happening at once with the same actors in different time periods. However, this movie is amazing, but you need to go into it prepared. Watch my cloud atlas breakdown and review.
Go to you tube and search for cloud atlas breakdown. then i should be the first one!
