A&E documents a case of history reversal in City Confidential: Secrets and Superstitions in Salem. Once known for its Puritanical execution of 19 suspected witches, Salem is now home to a thriving alternative population. One of the town's foremost practitioners of the magic arts is Laurie Cabot. In fact, when Martha Brailsford went missing in 1991, Cabot lent her psychic visions to police by describing a boat and a likely drowning. As it turns out, a fisherman, not investigators, found the body, and sailor Tom Maimoni's own flight from justice named him as a suspect. Nevertheless, the Massachusetts city that once shunned the supernatural now seemed to embrace it. A&E profiles Salem's reaction to a seaside killer in this one-hour program. ~ Sarah Ing, Rovi
