Nashville's country music reputation was built on homespun charm and a sense of hardworking innocence. The television program Hee Haw typified this attitude of lackadaisical wonder. David "Stringbean" Akeman was perhaps the best example of an old-fashioned musician. Akeman's best-known trait was his Depression-era distrust of banks. This suspicion led him to carry large amounts of cash in person and keep an even larger amount stashed in his home. This quirk would be the death of him and his wife who were both murdered by opportunistic thieves. Through archival footage, musical clips, and interviews, A&E details the crime that shook the budding music town. Nashville and Hee Haw's history is relived through the telling. ~ Sarah Ing, Rovi
