When the movie started, it had a kind of Alice in Wonderland quality to. A young girl attending the circus falls for an aerialist at first sight, but when their eyes meet he misses a swing and begins to fall to the ground. But rather than a deadly impact, the ground turns to quicksand, sucking him and, and the girl chases after. The premise seems spectacular until you get to the meat of the story. While the scenes that were filmed specifically of the girl on her search for the aerialist are quite good and interesting, the film is roughly stitched together with scenes from other Cirque du Soleil performances that have absolute zero connection to the storyline. Chunks at a time you are introduced to long, drawn out scenes with no context and no appearance of the main characters. It's just filler. Beautiful filler, of course, but the fact that it's such a jarring transition from the narrative, it really takes away from the skill of the performers and the movie just falls apart.

lousy 3D effects...dum story line...it was difficult to stay awake!!!....typical mundane circus acts....NOTHING new.....UGH....

have been to two Cirque du Soleil shows and they were surreal escapes from the waking world and beyond beautiful. For me they are like someone has come into my night time dream space and plucked out for the world to see the things I can only in a very futile way describe to others. I have no words to describe them. The movie though certainly short of the magic of being there in person was nonetheless amazing! My husband took me yesterday and we both were delighted our favorite movie of the year!

I felt like a little kid in Paris at a circus, I almost feel like I spoiled going to the real show in las vegas but its a definite "go see it". :)

I am so happy that the wonder, beauty, and unbelievable technical stage wizardry of the Las Vegas Cirque shows has been captured and made available to a larger audience! When I went to see Ka, it broke my heart that it was not available as a DVD. The obstacles of getting to Las Vegas combined with the ticket prices being pretty stiff made the show unapproachable to all but a few. At least this way many, many people have an opportunity to enjoy these folks' art!
