Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away 3D

Saw it yesterday with a friend. It was wonderful. You don't have to be a Cirque fan like I am to love this absolutely beautifully filmed extravaganza. I actually want to see it again. I have family in Las Vegas and since seeing Worlds Away, I know I want to see the Beatles Cirque show next time I visit. Whenever they bring a traveling show to Chicago I try to go. James Cameron did an amazing job and gave us all a beautiful Christmas present. I plan on seeing it again. I would rate this movie acceptable for all. The time goes by so fast you are surprised when it is over. You want more. 3D certainly has changed. The last 3D movie I saw was years ago and I think it was the first, House of Wax. The techniques used in the filming bring right into the world of Cirque du Soleil. You feel like you are roaming along with the principals. Go see it! You will love it!

Worlds Away was spectacular and much more than I expected. I bought 13 tickets for my three girls, their husbands and all my grandchildren to see it. My grandkids range in age from 8 to 22 and they throughly enjoyed the film. If given the chance they all we would love to see a live show after seeing this wonderful movie.

Worth seeing but a different animal from live Cirque altogether

Uses elements and magic from many Cirque shows to weave a beautiful narrative. If you haven't seen a Cirque show, this is an inexpensive way to experience some of Cirque's magic. I've seen several Cirque shows and I'll outline what I liked and disliked about the movie: Liked: The ability to see details and perspectives missing from the audience of a live Cirque show. The ability to zoom over and through the action. Much more sense of individual character and performance detail. Disliked: Less flow. Part of the Cirque magic is the ability to experience the flow of incredible performances. There were many times when the camera cuts pulled me away from something I wanted to see or otherwise interrupted the flow. Not enough big picture: The focus on individual and tight shots, deprived me of one of the things I love best about Cirque: the feeling of being overwhelmed at the totality and collective artistry of the troop on stage. Net: Worth seeing!

I have been to many performances and think this cinematic rendition was terrific and worth going to see. The wonderful part is that they included several of their ongoing performances so any viewer who has not seen the Cirque du Soleil in person can witness the magnitude and perfection of performances of so many extremely talented people.
