I had seen Balog's presentation in 2011 - and I knew I had to see the film. Chasing Ice documents without any doubt that humanity's use of fossil fuels is warming our climate. This is a wake up call that we can no longer deny. Tell all your friends and family to see this film and then get active. Sign up with 350.org - and then consider your own addiction to fossil fuels. Think about the impact on the climate every time you get in an airplane. Each flight is equal to an entire year of your carbon footprint! That in itself is shocking. We've got to do it differently from now on. Runaway climate change is upon us. I believe we've already passed the tipping point, which will bring great suffering to mankind. Remember Superstorm Sandy? Be prepared for a climate on steroids. It's going to get much worse.
The horrible truth is if we don't change our behavior, life as we know it on Earth will cease to exist. The massive die-off's mentioned in the film includes humans (your children).

Chasing Ice in addition to being stunningly beautiful is one of the most important environmental films of the decade. It is a must see for anyone concern about their grand children's future.

Amazing photographic record of the accelerating melting of the glaciers. Not only time-lapse over years but some calving events caught real-time in motion. Sit close to the screen.

This movie tries to make the case that climate change is real by showing time lapse photos of retreating glaciers. But it's bigger point is that the "star" and creator of the show--James Balog --has a seriously overblown ego. Most of the shots have him in it--the primary focus of the movie is on how brave he is, how smart he is, how daring he is...it's all "look at me, look at me, I'm so great!" Climate change is secondary. Science is dissed. Everyone he put in danger to do this (and there were clearly lots) maybe got their names in the credits at the end. The only people featured in the film besides Balog were people saying how great Balog is. I was warned that he has an ego problem before I went, but this was unbelievably over the top! Go look at the pictures streaming live (and for free) at DIA concorse A--they are much better. Hardly any new ones in the movie at all.

Warning: if you see this movie you maybe very motivated to actually do something about global warming. My idea of where to start: treat a friend who is a doubter to see this movie.
