A classic a must see
Epic, amazingly acted, brilliant story
The best directed written acted and edited film ever made. Not a scene, line of dialogue plot development wasted. Ever character fully developed. If you forget any other movie YOU MUST REMEMBER THIS!
As a prime example of supreme Hollywood movie-making at the height of the Studio System, Michael Curtiz's CASABLANCA stands high above many of its contemporaries as an unsurpassed achievement of excellence. Humphrey Bogart co-stars with the lovely Ingrid Bergman as the ill-fated couple separated in Europe during a German invasion of Paris only to cross paths years later at his nightclub establishment when she is in tow with her politically important husband who is trying to elude the Nazis. Intrigue, romance, well-tuned moments of comedy and stellar performances from all including Claude Rains, Conrad Veidt and always watchable Peter Lorre! Incredibly memorable from start to finish as Curtiz keeps the plot and intertwining subplots razor sharp and the gorgeous black and white deep focus photography adds a nostalgic air of beauty and elegance to this classic to end all classics. If possible go to a screening in a revival house with other admirers and see how beloved a treasure this is!
Loved it. I had never seen it and the "Flashback" movie night is a great idea.
