Bravo

Just a quick note to say this was one of the finest performances of Carmen ever. The voices are marvelous. Carmen electrifingly lusty and expressive; Don Jose truly smitten, and Michaelina poignant. Supporting cast more than fine. The music goes without saying, of course, and this orchestra did admirably. Well worth your time even if you have never seen an opera before. This is the one to see.

As usual, the Met performances are great!! It is a must see. A very steamy, sensuous, but yet dark Carmen. A very good production!!! Well worth the time and money, if it plays again.

Carmen - Met Opera summer encore

I had missed the original broadcast in 2010 and was looking forward to seeing this new (to me) production and it didn't disappoint. The singing & acting were both first rate and the orchestra, as always, was magnificent

MET HD - Carmen

I think that these productions are great - not quite the same as being in the Met itself, but not far off. You can also get very close to the action. I really enjoyed it and Carmen is a wonderful opera.

transmission froze

I went to see the Encore for "Carmen" and, during the 3rd Act, the transmission froze and at least 30 to 45 minutes were cut oft the original play. Hadn't I seen it before, I would have been lost. Our theater had no weather issues that day, and Carmen was not featured just once when it went on at The Met. I think that transmissions should be recorded with efficiency. If MET performances do not suffer regardless of the weather outside, they could have chosen a better recording.
