The West Australian Ballet mounted this 2002 rendition of Bizet's Carmen, with a cast that includes Benazir Hussain in the title role, Daryl Brandwood as the soldier José, Errol Pickford as Escamillo the Toreador and Melissa Aurisch as Micaela, José's fiancée. Ted Brandsen choreographed the production, with music by Rodion Shchedrin. The West Australian Symphony orchestra, under the baton of Nicolette Fraillon, provides musical accompaniment.
