Please stop shaking the camera

Message to director(s): please put the camera down. I can't wait until cinéma vérité (aka "queasy cam") goes out of style. It is extremely distracting and nothing more than a lazy director's substitute for well-choreagraphed action sequences. Case in point: compare the beautifully crisp and electric fight scenes in the first "Borne" movie vs the migraine-spawning shaky cam versions in the second and third Borne movies. Shaky cam was the difference between a "Go" and a "Must go" rating for "Winter Soldier."

Who doesn't love a good Marvel movie?

I LOVED this movie! My husband and I went to see it and the whole theatre was packed. You know its a great movie when everybody is totally silent and hanging on the edge of their seats throughout the whole thing. Normally, second movies in a series don't make it very far in the spot light. I loved this one. A few things were predictable but when you're a Marvel fangirl like myself, you tend to know what's going to happen. The Black Widow was kick ***as always and I was literally cheering Captain America on throughout the movie! I don't want to give any spoilers away, so simply put - I won't. You have to see this movie! I promise, you won't regret it.

Probably the best Marvel movie so far

While offering all of the action, explosions, and general butt-kicking you expect in a Marvel movie, the depth of the characters and storyline is far more intricate than any of the prior series. Characters are forced to evaluate whether their actions are doing more harm than good - both to their beliefs and to the world. The complex relationship between good, evil, free choice and orderly safety is a key element of the movie. As a viewer, you find yourself asking the same questions the characters are. Jung and Nietzsche aside, the move is thoroughly entertaining and definitely worth the money. About the only thing off-putting is the Michael Bay-style contestant camera motion relative to the characters. It can be a bit dizzying at times.

Continuing Saga of Captain America and Co.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier deals with the character of Steve Rogers navigating his new life in Washington D.C. along with his fellow co-workers. It appears that both Captain America and his “work peers” become targets due to knowing too much about the affiliations of the agency that they are based at. Chris Evans, Samuel Jackson, Scarlett Johannsson, Robert Redford, and Anthony Mackie star in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

A True Hero Now...

Don't usually go to the release date showings just because I'd rather see the fans' reviews. I made an exception for Captain America and I'm glad I did. This is a well paced movie with plenty of action and story building intermixed. You can't miss by going to see this movie. The title is a minor spoiler that you'll understand as the movie progresses. We should all be glad the Cap is here to do what is right to preserve freedom.
