    Clarkson is not the problem.

    Patricia Clarkson delivers, but the script and story just don't. What a challenge this one is! The script, costumes, makeup, are all botched badly in this film. The editing could have been handled much better. There isn't enough interaction for Clarkson to find and make her groove work, and their certainly isn't enough feeling from Alexander Siddig to make this work. Nadda needs to start over and a better script would be a good place to start. The scenes are the best part and that just isn't enough. Don't bother is a phrase I hate to use where Clarkson is involved. She always delivers a great job, but this doesn't give her much of a chance. See all of her other films. She really is quite a wonderful actor.

    Marred by slander

    WARNING: This movie contains a little bit of anti-Israel propaganda.

    At one point, Patricia Clarkson's character decides to take a bus to visit
    her husband in Gaza. At the border between Egypt and Gaza, the bus
    is unceremoniously stopped by Israeli soldiers who treat the passengers
    very rudely.

    This is total nonsense, of course. The border between Egypt and Gaza
    is patrolled by Egyptian soldiers. This little bit of gratuitous slander is
    the filmmakers' modest attempt to contribute to the general effort to
    demonize Israel.

    It's unfortunate, because it detracts what is otherwise a charming movie.
