Directed by Ernst Laemmle, a nephew of studio owner "Uncle" Carl Laemmle, this Universal "Blue Streak Western" starred handsome Fred Humes as a young miner battling a nasty horse trainer (Charles Lee Quinn) for possession of a valuable race horse. Does Humes save the animal from the glue factory and ride him to victory in the derby? You bet he does, winning pretty Gloria Grey along the way. Although sporting the tallest stetson in the business, the diminutive Fred Humes never reached the popularity of fellow Universal cowboys Hoot Gibson and Jack Hoxie.
