Russell Crowe, sporting the banged “Nero” look, plays the slimy, mendacious, feckless Mayor of New York City, running for re-election; it will take years to erase Crowe’s insipid performance in “Les Miserables” ; gone is the grit of “John Nash” in “A Beautiful Mind”, poignancy of “James Braddock” in “Cinderella Man” or the mettle, dignity of “The Gladiator”. Disguising his Australian accent with a tainted, New Jersey dialect, he squeezes the maximum sleaziness out of his untoward character...
The Mayor matches wits with the police commissioner; Jeffrey Wright gives a scintillating performance; the screen simmers with his presence; unfortunately their moments together are too infrequent...
TWO & 1/2 STARS!!

I went into this movie thinking it was going to be awesome, with some politics, decent action scenes and just an overall good movie, which it was, but these two could have done a lot better of a movie together. Great acting and an overall solid movie, but their could have been a great deal more of action, which we all like to see and are used to seeing in a Mark Wahlberg movie. I liked it and would definitely watch it again. I always tell my girlfriend that if you watch a movie and you know you want to or would watch the movie again then it was a good movie and worth your money.

I liked this film a lot. Wahlberg gives an excellent performance. This movie has a good Perry Mason type plot that keeps you guessing who is the real bad guy. I thought the director did a fine job of keeping the story moving along at a good pace. I never lost interest throughout the film; which is a major plus for me during any movie that I see. This one is well worth your time and money.

Was good action, easy to follow, middle was slow, but some parts seems contrived at the end, but good conquered evil even with consequences to those who committed crimes, so had a positive message.
