Hoss Cartwright rescues a little girl named Lisa (Eileen Baral), who is in a state of speechless shock after surviving a stagecoach holdup in which her parents were killed. In his efforts to snap Lisa out of her trauma, Hoss grows to love the child, and as such is devastated when her uncle, a man named Collins (Gerald Mohr), arrives to take Lisa away with him.
