Done before a few times but still a good story of one against the politics and doubledealing

LD and RC are good actors and make this an engrossing film with no reason to not fall headlong into the styoryline, the action is good but not the typical overdone that hollywood loves so much, the actions and reactions seem realistic and the finish does seem to be realistic and not just the mushy or twisted end, I'd see this again on DVD and perhaps even buy it which says a lot.

Recommend seeing this with friends or alone, its an 'R' so no kids but not for nudity but more gore and language....Grade B+

Good Spy Thriller

Good spy thriller with great acting from DiCaprio and Crowe. DiCaprio really shows how much he has matured as an actor here. The movie is gritty and violent and where you know who the bad guys are but you're hard pressed to tell who the good guys are in this movie, if there are any. Similarly, you're also hard pressed to know who's the pawn in this cat and mouse game of chess.

Underdeveloped

People will consider this either a confusing action movie or an underdeveloped spy movie. I was hoping for more of an espionage thriller and the movie had plot potential but needed to have at least another hour of non-action scenes to develop what was going on. Events in this movie flipped through about a dozen cities and some of the characters were recruited, used, and killed so quickly that there was barely time to develop them. The action scenes were generally enjoyable although DiCaprio goes pretty rambo for an intelligence collector. I agree that the girlfriend plot line is way too underdeveloped to support the impact on events it eventually has. I'll see this again when it comes out to rent but it didn't meet the (admittedly lofty) expectations I had for the cast and director.

Slow and Incredibly Boring

I was expecting some action in this movie and did not leave fufilled. There are a few gory moments, but not much action. Would be great if you wanted a very plot intense movie about the Middle East. I expect that this is very true to what life is like over there. I was just wanting more than a historical movie about life in the Middle East. I expected action based on the previews.

Good CIA based thriller. Well acted and directed. The camera work was excellent and the action was fast and furious. I liked it very much and would recommend it to any one who likes action spy type movies.

Best movie I have seen all year!

The plot is interesting and contemporary.The visual effects and images are coordinated in an excellent way.But the reason you must watch this movie is that acting of Crow, DiCaprio & Mark Strong is unprecedented in the last year or so.You wont regret it!

Good Movie

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, great actors, and it was very difficult to decided on who was or was not the bad guy, plenty of action to keep anyone happy, you could never really tell what was going to happen next, overall i was very happy with this movie.

Excellent Film

A stunning depiction of intellengence measures in Iraq. Full of startling and disturbing action scenes, complex plot which was easy to follow and was engaging. multiple twists of deceit which shock you at the end. an absolute must-see! DiCaprio's performace was outstanding and Ridley Scott nailed it again!

Awesome movie - action packed all the way through

From the reviews I wasn't sure if this movie would be good - but it turned out to be fantastic.
If you like action or war movies, this gives you a bit of both. I wonder if we have CIA agents that are actually brave enough to put themselves in the middle of that mess. I know we have plenty of those portrayed as bureacrats.
One reason I like this movie so much - it reminds me how easy and soft we have it here in the USA, while over there it's a complete nightmare. I almost think people should be forced to watch this movie so they know how bad things are in the middle east. We have stirred up a hornets nest over there. This world is a mess.
Di Caprio keeps getting better as an actor. He is believable in this film. And it's amazing to see Crow go from gladiator to overweight bureacrat - now THAT takes acting AND eating.
I loved this movie.
I can only hope our human intelligence gets better as our military presence shrink

Bodies of Lie

This was an excellent movie. It was action packed, but the story line was relevant to todays time. Deceit and government lies, and not being able to trust those in power, even if it is not a president or your own government or other rulera. I plan on going to see this movie again and then buying it on DVD. Go and see it, you will not be disappointed.

I'm stuck on the fence.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie. But I had very high expectations (that's what could have done me in) going in to this movie. I felt it was very built up, two very powerful actors, Crowe and DiCaprio, lot's of action and suspense, war thriller and so on. As a huge DiCaprio fan, I'd say this was his worst movie. I'm not saying the movie was bad, I'm just saying it was his worst. Not to mention they could have gotten any body to play Russle Crowe's part, they didn't use him as well as they could have. He gave a good performance and played it well, but the role itself wasn't demanding enough to have Crowe play it. He's a terrific actor and they didn't seem to challenge him at all in this. As of now, (10/17) I'd suggest seeing Eagle Eye. That's, in my opinion, the best movie out in theaters now.

A Engaging, Intense, Well Written Thriller

I had the pleasure of seeing this film on opening day. I enjoyed this film, thought the cast including Dicaprio were great. Now, I can understand why some may be not like this film because of the Iraq War, but I disagree. I think if you look at the quality, acting, direction, the suspense writing, this is not your typical political, Iraq war type of film, this is more about who do you trust, how do you know how to trust your superior even if she/he is pulling strings behind your behind, so this film raises and makes you think about moral issues like these. I firmly believe that Dicaprio will get a Oscar nod, if not a win for sure.
