    Blue Valentine

    by

I saw this movie at the Austin Film Festival back in October and while there were several awesome movies this one is my favorite! Ryan Gosling gets my vote for Golden Globe - hands down! Not sure why it was given the NC-17 rating - I've definitely seen much worse on PG-13 movies. Watching "Blue Valentine" felt like spying on the inner workings of a relationship between a new young couple and then an established married couple. At times it felt so personal, it was difficult to watch (but in a good way). AWESOME acting, AWESOME directing, AWESOME film making as a whole. LOVED IT and have been an avid movie fan most of my life and have given very few movies 5 stars, but this one definitely deserves it!

    Intensley Beautiful....

    by JennRad

I loved this movie. The chemistry between these two actors was phenomenal. I felt what these two felt. Amazing. Heartbreaking. Intense. Sexual. Beautiful. Laughter. Every emotion in the book is in this movie. I would highly recommend this movie for anyone over the age of 21 who has been in a relationship for over a year. Enjoy it.

    Blue Valentine

Blue Valentine was a heart wrenching movie to watch but I would definitely see it again. I really liked the fact that it wasn't a cliche movie about love. It was so in your face and real and I enjoyed the feel I got from the acting and the way it was filmed all together. It made me realize a lot of things about my own relationship that I want to change.

    Blue Valentine

    by lddcw

II saw this on cable the other day. There was much hype about the oral sex scene. Like most movies, the sex and nudity was gratuitous, but I guess they felt the need to contrast the happy, in lust (not necessarily in love) mode to the 5 plus years later every day drudgery mode with unwanted sexual advances and "wifely duty" sex. Admittedly, I don't care for heavy dramas and relationship movies. For me, this was dull and the time just dragged on. You could see that she was a middle class girl who should never have hooked up with a lower class, blue collar guy. She got pregnant, so they got married; big shock that the relationship fell apart. They wanted different things out of life from the beginning. The fact that they never really worked on or nurtured the marriage showed the character?s immaturity and self-centeredness. They just represented so many of today's stupid, impulsive people who don't think things through. I just wanted to slap some sense into both of them.

(It's a Very Dark) Blue Valentine

    by DJTMY

Before you go to this movie, be prepared. This isn't a feel-good love story. This is dark. It is sad. But it's real. Ryan Gossling and Michellle Williams put up extraordinary performances.

    Movie doesn't leave me blue.

Sometimes movies about relationships turning sour are themselves unpleasant, but this movie does not fall into that trap. Michelle Williams is luminous and Ryan Gosling is passionate. They fall in love and fall out of love. Nothing bad triggers it, their paths just diverge. But they travel those paths with such passion and conviction that you can't help but root for them but then accept the inevitable. Powerful performances buy both leads. Michelle should earn an Oscar nomination for this role.

    Left Me Blue All Right

Blue Valentine is more of the same indie trash that seems to be the order of the day. This is a perfect example of the self-important writng/filmmaking that has indie world in such bad shape. When you are doing neo-realism, whimsy is dangerous and compelling characters are vital. Gosling and Williams are great actors, but they make their characters so bland I couldn't care for them. I was waiting for the disaster And why was most of the film shot in close-up. There were times I was compelled to count Gosling's nose hairs. Williams has the toughest part, but the film betrays her by giving her nothing to do. Again just more Indie-Trash.

Great acting, horrible ending and left me wishing i could ha

I rushed to see this since it was only playing 2 days near me and was completely knocked right off my feet. & not in a good way ): it seems like critics don't rate movies for how good they are but by how great they think the actors did, if you want to go see a truly great movie see The kings Speech not this. This movie had a few good jokes and a very unanswered ending. Wait & watch this on redbox.

    Blue, blue blue...

Movie was great, but fair warning, don't go with a loved one. I don't mean to be pessimistic here, however, this is a hard look into real-life love, something sugar coated by this industry itself. Goslin and Williams put on an incredible act, and hit both parts vividly and spot on. Just don't expect to be left with much hope (depending on how you look at it). What is interesting is the retrospective viewpoint of how the story is told, and the journey it takes you through. Also, there is an interesting undertone of the modern-day male role in society, and the subtle ways of how men are changing. To anyone who has every been in love, this movie will surely feel familiar.
