Saw the film twice already, and that never happens. The first time, I was enthralled by Cate Blanchet's performance. The next time by all the other performers. Already it is my favorite Woody Allan film.

Kate was amazing in this role as a crazy woman but the "plot" is disjointed & confusing. I really hated this movie! Don't even rent it when it comes out in a couple of months.

Woody Allen gets other actors to play his typical neurotic role. Cate will get an Oscar nod, but there is nothing else redeeming about this movie. Yawn. Save your money on this one, go see 20 feet from Stardom!

Left my husband and I feeling down...but it was a great movie.

Not every movie needs to make me smile and leave me feeling hopeful. Good thing, because this one did not. The acting was amazing. The story well written. It was a great movie in many ways, but be prepared - it's not light fare. Watching the main character and her sister move slowly but surely towards their own private tragedies was tough. I think Cate Blanchett deserves an Oscar nomination for her role.

Love the Blue

Just saw Blue Jasmine and Cate B is spot on, and really anchors the picture emotionally. And that felt very purposeful, a kind of movie making slight of hand. Woody Allen wants us to side with her, and it works. Then slowly we see the bigger picture, and the next bigger picture and finally the complete picture of Blanchett's character, and it is so far from where we started, great story telling. It seemed to be missing some of the kinder, comic/tragic elements that I love in Woody Allen movie, but still a warm and honest view of a women far removed from being honest with herself.
