Read the book first, if you can.

This was a very entertaining movie without all the Hollywood action. Everybody just saw at their seats as the credits rolled on at the end of the in a trance.... as if deep in thought. It's a must watch!

If you have lived in New Mexico and truely believe in your history this a must absolutely see this movie. Our 3 generation family have read the book and loved the movie. We need more of our heritage brought to the screen. Thanks to Rudolpho Anya for making his book come alive.

An Amazing Chicano Family Movie

I read the book and was really excited to see this movie but the week that it opened, our area was hit with a snow storm. One week later, AMC Theaters decided to pull the movie due to poor sales. I wrote AMC Theater Headquarters and they responded to me immediately. After expressing my disappointment in not giving this movie an opportunity due to the snow blizzard and AMC closing for two of the seven days it showed, they decided because of my persistence to bring it back for one more week. I was not going to let this depiction of a good Chicano family oriented film go down like that here in the Kansas City area. My son, who is 13 loved it along with my military husband as we all agreed we saw some part of our family on screen. It followed and respected the book flawlessly and we will definitely see it again before they pull it again. It is not often that we get to see a Mexican-American family on screen with more than three generations of American born characters. Amazing!
