Boston Film Festival Showed Its Corruption Tuesday Night
I absolutely loved the film, "House of Numbers."
But apparently, some other people didn't. After assuring the filmmaker and his representative that no one-sided "panel discussion" would disturb this event, the Festival's organizer -- alone and without further input from his staff -- went ahead and invited "AIDS experts" to crash a film in which they themselves were quoted extensively. As "the other side." We quite reasonably asked what "other side" there could be to a film that covered all sides, and they had no answer for us.
If Fandango wishes to associate further with this organization, it should know that the festival consistently misrepresented the show as "sold out." I'm glad Fandango exists, because the filmmaker's representative was able to call you and verify that many tickets still remained. However, it was too late for him to purchase them in bulk for promotion purposes. BIFF sabotaged Fandango, sabotaged promotion and ticket sales, and sabotaged the screening.
