I have always loved surf movies. I can remember watching a surf movie in Huntington Beach and then surfing under the lights of the pier around midnight because the stoke wouldn't let me sleep.
Beyond Sight got me stoked in a much more spiritual way. After watching it last night I wanted to do more than ride waves, I wanted to take steps of courage and faith in my life. Derek Rabelo has an innocent fearlessness about him that is contagious. He is focused on his goal and he presses through obstacle after obstacle to get there. But he does so believing that God is his strength, and that faith in Jesus is the power. He is an inspiring character and provides a great story of courage and faith.

Well done, absolutely amazing all the way around! Loved the opportunity to meet Derek and Bryan in person and the rest of the guy at the viewing. Super cool!
It makes you rethink your own personal struggles in life; just keep on plugging foward and never giving up no matter how hard it is; There is always light at the end of the tunnel even when you think you'll never see it. You will!!
Way to go on the movie guys! It's a must see!

I took my son & his friends who are beach fanatics to see the movie last night. They absolutely loved Derek's journey & the message of the story. They loved seeing some of their favorite local surf spots up on the big screen & craved for the waves of Brazil and Oahu. It was humbling to see some of the big name surfers take time to bring Derek's dream a reality & in a movie that is not highlighting their success or biography. Derek's courage & attitude reminded them of how blessed they are & to maybe try a surf/body boarding session blind folded. Of course after the movie they were begging for a ride to the beach for a quick beach sesh....but it was a school night.
Great for all ages - good, clean, inspirational, well told story.

This is a very inspiring story. The surf footage of Derek and the pros he meets during his journey is spectacular. This is a great film for the entire family.

The story of blind surferDerek Rabelo was excellent. Bryon Jennings captured it well. He showed the good and the bad. Derek's courage, persistence and determination to overcome his blindness from birth was a testimony to what a person can do -- especially if they focus on the Lord. The movie showed the reality too -- what happened to Derek as he got some fame. Like most of us -- especially at a young age -- he struggled.
The surf scenes were great. Kelly Slater is amazing! And a nice guy. Derek's mom is very real and shows the love a mother has for her son! I would strongly suggest taking the family to see it!
