    First-time writer/director Justin LIn scores a bull's-eye with this scorching examination of bored, over-achieving youth who get involved with low-level larcenies at first then soon get swallowed up in full throttle burst of crime after bring led by their class president. Uniformly solid acting from an all-Asian cast including Parry Shen as the shining star student drawn into a world of darkness by peer pressure, his best friend Jason Tobin as a wannabe gangster, and the marvelous John Cho as a rich boy who ruffles too many feathers for his own good... A real intense, explosively charged film with many telling details about California suburbian banality...
