a great read come to life
Believe it or not, this is the oldest story know to man. Long before the time of Jesus Christ, ancient story tellers (sceops) would travel the lands telling this very story to anyone who would hear it. One day, a record of this fantastical account was made, cementing it in history as the oldest story know to be recorded by man. Having read the story of Beowulf, I was amazed at how well the story translated to film. After a bit, they add a little fluff here and there to keep the story going, but overall, the film was excellently done. Grendal's first appearance and subsequent slaughter of countless men in the Mead Hall was very much like what I had pictured when reading the incredibly descriptive literary work. Of course, as most people will tell you, once you've read a book, the film loses some of the magic, and to this I ALWAYS agree... except here. Check it out, you owe yourself that much.
