    I thought the movie was very good. The story and character build up was excellant. Also the tension of waiting to see what happens kept me nervous and anxious - and it wasn't so predictable like other movies these days! It was also a good peek into a diferent culture and time.Also it was beautifully directed and filmed.

    The movie is beautifully filmed. The epoch, British-ruled India between the world wars, is believably presented. A plot initially interesting becomes dark in a dismaying and irredeemable misery in which racism and personal weakness are essential elements. We are also forced to compare the "civilized" occupier's notion of justice in the case of a shocking homicide with the truth-seeking practices of the native tribe.

    It was a very good movie. The cinematography was great: beautiful scenes, rich colors and the perfect camera shots. The acting was good and casting solid. I actually believed the characters to be real people by the actors portrayal of them.
    My only negative critique is end of the movie. My date and I left the theater asking "What?" With that lone exception the script was engaging and provocative. It didn't lag, get stuck in the mud nor take off into 'no where'.
