There were a few dissapointments. Many details from the book were missing, and even things that didn't happen in the book. BUT, I still fell in love with the characters. Ive read all the books and I'm not that picky about it. And for those of you who " walked out". In order to give a true critique of the movie, you should probably stay the whole time. No matter how "dreadful" it was. Which it wasn't... so if you've read the book or not, just go. And please stay the whole time so you can give an intelegent review, whether you like it or not.

First off if all you know if this movie is the Trailers, go learn a bit about the movie before you watch it or prepare to be disappointed as I was.
That being said, it wasn't a bad movie. It was a fairly good teen romance movie all things considered, what it was not was a fun action filled magical romp.

I enjoyed the book, the movie is HORRIBLE: poor representation of the best seller. to many changes. From start to finish the movie leaves out and changes to many details that makes it exciting, and lacking in special effects, I should have stayed home and read the second book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Probably a miss cast of main character. Didn't connect with her at all. It was ok, enjoyed other characters in movie, it got boring but picked up, then kinda fell apart in one scene. Wait for on demand.

I've never read the book so I'll take the word of my wife and daughter when they say the movie did not follow the book very well and made a number of unfortunate changes to the story.
For me personally, I left feeling I had just paid matinee prices for a made for TV movie.
The leading man, while having a nice smile, is too old for the part. Speaking of nice smile, it is used at every turn whether called for or not.
The leading lady at times turns in a performance that is rather disappointing to the point that her own cardboard cutout could have stood in for her.
The best acting comes from a somewhat over the top Emma Thompson and a seductive Emmy Rossum, both of whom sadly only shows just how bad the main characters were.
Jeremy Irons did what he does best, be Jeremy Irons with a different accent.
Sadly, I should have waited and seen this one on DVD instead.
Thankfully the family time involved made it worth it, even if the movie itself didn't,
