I want my money back

Ok I'm not usually one of those people that get upset over the book verses the movie... but this was a tragedy. It wasn't just "loosely based" on the book... they completely changed some of the key aspects and story line. If i were the authors I'd be very upset. The ending was totally different and even if i didn't read the book.... the movie wasn't really all that good. It was an epic fail all around. I wanted to walk out and demand my money back... several people actually did walk out barely half way through the movie. Where was Ethan's dad? The story about his mom? Marion Ashcroft doesn't even exist! And they say Macon is a dark caster? No... that is incorrect! The climax of the story fell completely flat... And I'm pretty sure Seraphine was the one who STABBED Ethan... he wasn't SHOT by Link. Complete trash...

In the middle on this one

I kept getting a sense of deja-vu. I even knew the ending; or close enough to it. I did not read this fabulous book mentioned in reviews. The movie was worth my time and money. Will I see it again or rent it? Nah. The special effects were tops. I would have loved seeing the southern version of the Addams Family house more and maybe it should have been a little longer. Thumb's up movie-goers.

Enjoyable love story

Knowing Alfre Woodard & Jeremy Irons made this one of interest, along w/ the magical aspect. I enjoyed the film more than I expected. There were moments of humor that got good (appropriate) chuckles from the audience. Not too teen-angsty. I kept thinking though, that I was looking at a relation of Leonard DeCapprio in the male lead.

Nothing like the book

If you've read the books and are hoping for a movie version of the interesting, funny and heartwarming love story of Ethan and Lena, you will not get it. The movie is so unlike the book that "loosely based" is generous. There are major plot changes, important characters missing, alteration of characters...it's just an entirely different story. On top of it, the casting was terrible. "Emily Asher" and "Link" were the only two characters cast fairly well. And, although Alden E. looks nothing like "Ethan Wate", he was adorable and likeable. Those three characters are the only thing that slightly saved the movie from absolute awfulness. And the movie itself, even if I had not read the book, was confusing and poorly written. I READ the book and didn't understand the "curse" in the movie (especially because it was so different from the book). Despite some good actors and a few funny one-liners, do not bother seeing this if you want to see the movie version of the book.

Disappointed, but it was a so so movie

Went and saw this movie with my husband on Valentine's Day, and was extremely disappointed. Hubby liked it, but he didn't read the books. I read all 4 books and I think that's why I didn't like it as much. The books are so much better, than the movie. I went and saw it a second time with my mom last night, and thought it wasn't that bad. Is it better than Twilight or Harry Potter? No. Would I buy the movie? Probably, since I have the books. Those of you who haven't read the books, please watch the movie, before you read them. You will be disappointed by all the scenes that should have been in the movie, but were cut out or not filmed at all.
