Nothing like the book

If you've read the books and are hoping for a movie version of the interesting, funny and heartwarming love story of Ethan and Lena, you will not get it. The movie is so unlike the book that "loosely based" is generous. There are major plot changes, important characters missing, alteration of characters...it's just an entirely different story. On top of it, the casting was terrible. "Emily Asher" and "Link" were the only two characters cast fairly well. And, although Alden E. looks nothing like "Ethan Wate", he was adorable and likeable. Those three characters are the only thing that slightly saved the movie from absolute awfulness. And the movie itself, even if I had not read the book, was confusing and poorly written. I READ the book and didn't understand the "curse" in the movie (especially because it was so different from the book). Despite some good actors and a few funny one-liners, do not bother seeing this if you want to see the movie version of the book.

This was not too bad of a movie for people who have NOT read the book. For those who have, speaking for myself, I felt it could have been much better. It was as if the director's skimmed the book and transposed the 'gist' of it into a movie. I think they also had a low budget to work with which is why one of the main characters in the book (Marian) was not present and Amma filled two roles.

If you never read the book, you will probably like the movie. If you read the book, don't bother - You will be disappointed!!!! Hoping they don't make the other books into movies without sticking to the story. If really want to see it - wait for it to get to Redbox. It will be worth the dollar,

One of the worst movies I have seen in a long while. No real story line and it was amazing they were able to fill so much time with nothing. Don't waste your time.

I liked the story line, the special effects, and acting. I didn't care for the ending. It felt like it needed more. I will buy it on DVD, just not until it is on sale. Oh, this movie is great for 13+ years old viewers. I did take my 12 year old, but thought it was a bit risky in a few scenes.
