Beautiful Creatures is a movie that is worth waiting to see on DVD. Didn't expect it to be more of a cute love story than a movie about witch craft.

This is a supernatural teenage love story [No , It's not a 'Twilight' sequel] that takes place in South Carolina [But , It could be trying to attract the 'Twilight' audience] . It's based on a series of books [4 , to the best of my knowledge] about a 15 year old girl that is a witch [but they prefer the term , Caster] and on her 16th birthday , she becomes either good or evil [there is a countdown of the days on her wrist that looks like a tattoo] . Alice plays the young Caster that falls in love with Alden but is afraid that she will hurt him when she changes [she is afraid she will turn evil] . Jeremy is her protective uncle and Emma plays the mother of one of Alden's friends . If you like the 'Twilight' movies you should enjoy this one , too [I thought it was a little better than the 'Twilight' movies] . I would probably buy this on DVD .

I enjoyed it but I didn't read the book

My friend and her daughter have read the book so they were so excited to see this movie. I told them that the reviews said people who read the book would be disappointed. Well they were right! My friends did not care for the way the story was told in film. I thought the movie was okay but I thought the editing could be better. The storyline seemed disjointed. but the plot was good and loved the special effects. My friend and her daughter now question if they will see anymore of these movies. Maybe they(directors) should have done it in 2 parts. That way they could have stayed true to the book. Just a heads up that if you want to read the book wait till after you see this movie! LOL

Went and saw this movie with my husband on Valentine's Day, and was extremely disappointed. Hubby liked it, but he didn't read the books. I read all 4 books and I think that's why I didn't like it as much. The books are so much better, than the movie. I went and saw it a second time with my mom last night, and thought it wasn't that bad. Is it better than Twilight or Harry Potter? No. Would I buy the movie? Probably, since I have the books. Those of you who haven't read the books, please watch the movie, before you read them. You will be disappointed by all the scenes that should have been in the movie, but were cut out or not filmed at all.
